Services & Resources

Volunteer Services.

Volunteers are available to accompany patient and family through end-of-life care. Phone consultations, respite for care givers and sitting with patients, either in the home or a health care facility, are part of the service.

Grief Support.

Grieving is hard and lonely work.  It can take a surprising amount of energy just to get through a day.  Talking to someone can help.  We offer individual and group support sessions.

Bereavement interventions are provided for agencies or groups who have experienced the death of a co-worker or colleague.  This is an opportunity for people to debrief their loss, share concerns and facilitate recovery.

Advance Care Planning

In 2011, BC passed legislation which allows you to create a formal record of your wishes about the kind of medical care you’d like to receive if you can't speak for yourself, especially toward the end of life. It also allows you to appoint someone to work with health care providers to make sure your wishes are respected. Bulkley Valley Hospice Society volunteers are available to provide workshops that outline a process for discussing and documenting those wishes. Workshops can be geared toward the general public or toward organizations seeking professional development for their employees or information for their clients.

Ceremony of Remembering at Christmas.

This simple ceremony is for those people wishing to remember loved ones at a time when the emotions of grief are most difficult and out of harmony with the feelings of the festive season.
